The ECOWAS PPP Forum and inauguration of regional PPP stakeholder network will take place on 8-9 June 2022 in Dakar, Senegal. This high-level event is jointly organized by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Commission, the ECOWAS infrastructure Project Preparation and Development Unit (PPDU) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
The Forum will gather representatives of national Public-Private Partnership (PPP) units, the Federation of West African Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FEWACCI), the Government of Senegal, the private sector as well as technical and financial partners. It will serve as a platform of dialogue focusing on the framework for regional PPPs in West Africa as a way to revitalize Member States interest in further developing infrastructure-related legislation, PPP regulation, and institutional setup to develop national PPP agenda. The event will also facilitate experience and knowledge sharing between the participants.
At the same time, a regional PPP stakeholder network will be inaugurated, together with the launch of an ECOWAS PPP online platform. These tools, developed with the technical support of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in the context of the West Africa Competitiveness Programme (WACOMP), are crucial to improve the communication and information flow between the various stakeholders involved in PPP, and therefore will facilitate the implementation of the PPP policy and guidelines, promote ownership by all stakeholders, and generate more interest in PPP among local and foreign investors.
